Ethiopian and Kenyan airlines will start charging air fares in Malawi Kwacha, this is according to The Nation of Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
The two airlines stopped charging in the local currency seven months ago due to “foreign exchange shortages which made them unable to repatriate money to their countries.
Ethiopian airlines marketing officer Godfrey Lungu has told the paper that the airline is now flying daily into Malawi as talks are at an advanced stage to see how they will revert to charge fares in Kwacha.
Kenyan Airways country manager Ruth Maweu told the local newspaper that her company is looking at modalities on how to start charging flights in Kwacha too.
The two airlines companies suspended its services when Alleluya Band was preparing for their current trip to Italy for education fund raising shows.
The Band left the country for Italy on 23 May, 2012 and so far they have performed 7 out of 44 shows scheduled around Italy.
