Students of Andiamo Education Institutions (AEI) will soon be accommodated in one campus following the construction of a new boys hostel, which started on Monday 28 January 2013.
According to Franco Fiorina, a volunteer from Italy who also built the new girls hostel in the same campus, by the time he leaves on 18 April this year, the hostel will have been on the roofing level.
“I have found Phillipo [foreman] and his team in high spirits and I believe together we can achieve what we want.” Franco says the boys and him know each other and he is sure that if there are no unforeseen problems they will achieve what they want.
Asked how he feels to see girls occupying the hostel he and his team constructed last year, Franco that it gives him more satisfaction mainly because the hostel has also new beds.
The new boys hostel will accommodate sixty boys mainly from Andiamo Technical College.
Annamaria whose late brother, Bruno donated part of his wealth to Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust of Balaka, Malawi laid the foundation stone of the new hostel on 22 May 2012.
On the occasion, Annamaria said that she had come to Malawi to fulfil the wish of her late brother to share part of his wealth to the youth of Balaka, who were included in his will before he died in February 2011 in Italy.
“I urge you to take your studies seriously so that my brother’s soul can rest in peace,” said Annamaria.
Meanwhile AEI office has welcomed this new development saying, the new hostel will boost the communal life of the students of AEI because they will all be in one campus. Currently students of the Andiamo Technical College stay outside the main campus making mobility difficult mainly when it rains.
