The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) will host the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) in Lilongwe from 16 to 24 July 2014.
According to the press release by ECM the theme of the meeting is “New Evangelisation through True Conversion and Witnessing to Christian Faith.
It is also reported that over 250 delegates, half them Cardinals and Bishops, form 127 Dioceses in the region are expected to convene in Malawi for this meeting.
AMACEA was founded in 1961 and comprises the Episcopal Conferences of Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
This is the third time that Malawi is hosting the conference having hosted it in 1979 and 1995 in Zomba and Mangochi respectively.
Coincidentally, 2014 is the year that Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust, started by Mario Pacifici, a Roman Catholic priest, clocks 30. A book about this cooperative is in the offing.
