Form 4’s Gala: Incoming

It is happening again this Saturday, the 15th of June. The family of Andiamo is bidding farewell to our form four students at A.E.I who are starting exams by 26 June. Gala as it is well known of, is going to take place in the Umodzi Hall from 7:30 am.

It is no doubt going to be the most wondrous concert and a remembrance. Despite numerous performances from the students, Alleluya band will also unfold how they are doing it in Italy. Andiamo Music School students have seen this as their opportunity to perform in preparation for their Chibuku Road to Fame National competition in Mzuzu on July 6.

“This is the last time we are doing it home before we set off for Italy, we are set and it is going to be the best” prophesies Coss Chiwalo the sitting band leader.

Olipa Nyirenda’s success story; Motivation to Andiamo Tailoring Students

Today June 11 Andiamo was paid one of rarest visits of sort by Olipa R. Nyirenda, who graduated from a Tiyende tailoring class of 1998.

“Here is where I got my thrust to go further. I boosted my skills during attachments I have had in Lilongwe in different tailoring shops there. I came by to thank Andiamo Trust that led me the way when it was tough to perceive what future in tailoring beholds for me”. The graduate looks forward to meeting the current students for a motivational talk some time.

“And your success story alone is already an inspiration to us as students and a cooperative” admires Alessandro extolling Olipa’s stopover.

She was hired at St. John of God Tailoring School in Mzuzu from 2003 to 2006. Later she worked with Miracle Technical College as an instructor to 2009 where she stayed for two years. She upgraded her skills and now she makes different designs of clothes ranging from men to women clothing and several other garments.

“Tailoring was ridiculed then, but we still worked hard against the traditional mentality fueled by motivation of our dear teachers Late Mai Phiri and Mai Hussein. Here I am, we sailed through” admits Olipa who by her works of art earns handsomely to support herself and her two children; Mwawi and Maxson.

Elephant kills 3 people in Zomba

An elephant that escaped from Liwonde National park has killed three people in Zomba since Wednesday.

According to Simeon Maganga of the Daily Times as published in their newspaper dated June 7, 2013, the elephant was killed by the Police and game rangers. The elephant claimed the lives of Fredrick Galimoto, Felix Julius and Mikaele Nansalu.

May their souls rest in eternal peace!

A.E.I End of year Exam Timetable released

Andiamo Education Institutions management has released the examination timetable. This schedule is the wake up call to deep studies amongst the students because the forthcoming exams will determine whether the students progress onto the next level or not. It is a reminder that the longest term this was is coming to an end [on 11th July]. Below the timetable is captioned ‘No sweet without sweet!’; a clear caution that students need to work hard.

The students have launched massive studying, in dead silence they pack themselves in their small library. The exam period commences on 28th June and ending on 9th July; marking the end of 2012/2013 academic year.

All set for JCE exams!

The Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has again this year approved Andiamo secondary school’s Umodzi hall as an examination centre for Andiamo and Mohale private secondary school cluster by during the forthcoming Junior Certificate of Education exams. The long awaited exam will commence tomorrow on June 4.

Mwaiwathu settles Get up stand up debts before the deadline

The Mwaiwathu club of Msamanyada village at Kapandatsitsi has shown a good example of settling their loan way before the deadline which is in August. Henry Goster; the get up stand up coordinator has reported this as welcome development and a dazzling emblem of cooperativeness in the project.

“They have paid back their loan at once, this is the spirit that we always recommend among clubs in the Get up stand up Project” says Goster.

Mwaiwathu club farmers grow maize, tobacco and cotton. They have realized a bumper harvest this season because of the good rains and farms inputs they got from Get up stand up project on a non interest loan system.

Students Celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi

Fr. Mario Pacifici SMM has led students of Andiamo Educaton Institutions (AEI) in prayers on the feast of Corpus Christi on June 2 at Andiamo Campus, as part of the global prayers to be presided over later by Pope Francis in Rome.

During the Eucharistic Celebration, Fr. Mario disclosed that Pope Francis will lead in prayers to mark the Corpus Christi feast at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican Sunday evening.

The Feast of Corpus Christi is observed to commemorate Jesus Christ’s suffering with bread and wine that symbolize his body and soul.

Alleluya Band 2013 Tour: an extract of Mkwaso newspaper published by Joseph Kayira

Mkwaso newspaper published by Montfort media has in this recent publication headlined the Alleluya Band 2013 tour to Brazil and Italy. In the article Joseph Kayira of Mkwaso interviewed Fr. Mario Pacifici the founder of the band and Gertrude Naluso the second deputy Band leader. Alleluya Band has for the fifth time been endorsed this year by the Mangochi diocese to represent youths of Malawi at the World Youth Day (WYD) in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The band will be performing in Italy in June before going to Brazil in July.PROGRAMMAALLELUYA-1024x720

Despite entertaining at WYD the band preaches the gospel at such event. The band mingles with different youths at the event; an opportunity for them to learn few things and showcase the Malawian culture abroad. During previous episodes the band had opportunity to meet Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI and they will be meeting Pope Francis in Brazil at WYD.

Fr Mario was in this article reported quoting Matthew 28:19-20, citing the mission of the band as preaching Christ to the edges of the earth through music. They have clocked 35 years of singing life with joy.
