Appreciating Art

It is the human nature to appreciate any art that bears an aesthetic value. Speaking of art, the works of Dave Pablos cannot go unnoticed. Pablos’ ‘state of art’ paintings have been judged for their incredible splendour and meaningfulness they bear to his beholder.

His artistic paintings give true meaning to beauty of artistry. In his house of art are stunning volumes of incredible paintings that Dave created primarily for aesthetic purposes. His paintings are stocks for international and local markets.

Dave finally found a home at Andiamo since last year when he started working with Andiamo after he worked with so many organizations where he claims to have obtained such experience.

Early learning during the childhood days has proved very significant in every kid’s future. Since its opening in 1994, St. Monica Nursery School has provided early education to kids around Balaka town. Kids at the school, guided by their teachers, exercise and sing in the course of learning.

Mr. Mpama and Mrs. Jalasi headmaster and headmistress respectively at St. Monica concur that most kids who went through the nursery school have easy breakthrough at elementary schools.

“This is the kids’ benchmark for formal learning, they like the games; so learning happens” reports one of the teachers at St. Monica. Besides intellectual subjects, the kids are taught how to pray, which Mrs. Jalasi believes is the driveway to the beginning of wisdom.

Don Cesare Castelli directs the functioning of St. Monica, St. John’s, Kapandatsitsi, Toleza, Matola and Mbera Nursery schools.

Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust joins the rest of the world jubilating upon this great news and sending their goodwill wishes to Pope Francis. As His Holiness Pope Francis ascends to the Chair of Saint Peter and begins his papacy, Andiamo bows in prayer that God grants the Holy Father wisdom and integrity to lead the 1.2 billion of the flock with such a modest spirit.

Pope Francis of Buenos Aires, formerly Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, emerged from the conclave as the first pope from outside Europe in modern times, the first Jesuit, the first from Latin America, and the first named Francis, in recollection of St. Francis of Assisi, who dedicated his life to helping the poor.

These technicians are trained to work on problems involving the efficient use of personnel, materials, and machines in the production of goods and services. Most of successful students at the college easily earn jobs in the Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust. Other graduates get employed outside, yet others employ themselves.

“Our jobs are more practically oriented than those of scientists and engineers. We teach the basic work,” observes Rodrick Khauya, the Electrical Installation lecturer at the College.

Among other subjects, the technicians learn principles of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve problems in quality control, maintenance, manufacturing and construction.

Andiamo Trust engages itself seriously into people’s lives, as of now houses to accommodate doctors at the hospital have been built and soon the clinic will operate fully.

“We will take care of this facility; bringing the hospital in our vicinity is the best of gifts Fr. Mario Pacifici has given to us” proclaims Mr. Mwanapwa; a native of the area.

The natives have agreed that there was a need for a nearby hospital because they used to travel long distances to the hospital and some consulted herbalists and witchdoctors.

Harry Pongolani is a newly recruited staff member at Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust. However, he has also worked with Trust in 2011 when he partnered with Engineer Giuseppe Traina in teaching Technical Drawing at the Technical College. Now his second coming is very welcomed by most members of staff.

Harry has just finished his Bachelor of Science in Technical Education degree program from the Polytechnic; a constituent college in the University of Malawi. Among other duties he will be updating this website with news around Andiamo Campus and teaching at both the secondary school and college.

It is pretty exciting to note the coincidence that Harry has also been a Beneficiary of Chifundo Projects throughout his secondary and tertiary educations.

“No, not coincident at all, working with Andiamo is my choice- my platform to politely say ‘thanks’,” says Harry. He further highlights that he shares in the dreams of Andiamo and that he will work assiduously with everyone to make a lasting impact.
